New material to share

Been cleaning out my studio closet today. I came across this.

When I get a commission, I produce little paintlets and this is one that never went any further. Its only about 20 cm long but I really like the colours.... but.... I'm unsure about the Rousseau style leopard in the background. Rousseau was ridiculed for much of his painting career and I'm not convinced the composition requires a furry cat. But I'd certainly appreciate any comments either way.

I think he was ridiculed for his class, wasn't he a postman? The French were terrific snobs, they may hvae thought he was rising above his station. But his work hangs in the National, so you're in good company! I'm not mad keen on the cat but the flowers are lovely.

I really like the tiger, they way he’s looking out, draws me into the picture…:) and I think he adds an extra dimension to your flower pictures…a more layered narrative…that sounds a bit poncy doesn’t it…hopefully you’ll know what I mean :) Anyway, I think it looks very intriguing; you should paint it :)

Love the flowers but would hesitate to comment on the wildlife untill I see it in the flesh.
