Inspired by
Graham's recent exploration of fruit and vegetables, here is a little composition named Apples and Rhubarb
Only joking.......
Whenever I am frustrated in my painting efforts, I have to go and make something. Usually something involving scissors and glue with my kids, but today I decided to get creative in the kitchen instead.
So I made rhubarb, apple and ginger crumble for
Lucy since the rhubarb was plucked from her garden on sunny Bank holiday afternoon.
I love these old Salter scales I got from ebay....they date from the 50s I think, keep meaning to find out. But they work perfectly and have outlived nasty electronic devices.

You are a domestic goddess and I claim my £10!
I think your apple's look nicer that Graham's (family motto secret et hardi).
Ego sum an artifex quod scelestus
Antiquis temporibus, nati tibi similes in rupibus ventosissimis exponebantur ad necem
Why does no one ever bring me crumble…;) all smothered in creamy custard…yummy…Will you be serving up such delights at your exhibition Sue?
Not knowing any Latin, I did a search on Google for useful Latin sayings…so I would look like I knew what you were both talking about…the first saying I found was…
"Exegi monumentum aere perennius." - I have erected a monument more lasting than bronze.
Now I just need to wait for exactly the right moment to use it…;)
si monumentum requiris, circumspicere.
A pint to the first person who identifies where you'd see this inscription... as long as you are prepared to swear blind you didn't Google it.
No Graham, no - you have nice, hot crumble with cold yummy cream. Contrast of hot and cold, very pleasing.
A - sorry couldn't resit a Goggle 8-).
Adam - I know what the phrase means but I am stuck on where you might see it inscribed.......any clues because I am sorely tempted to google.
Graham - There will be delights aplenty in the exhibition next week, just not of the edible kind I regret to say.....
ooh... how to give a good clue?
if you've walked down Broad Street you've seen another of his monuments!
nb... I mistype the last word - it should be 'circumspice'
Ah hah.
Sheldonian...?
Damn, i just walked passed the Sheldonian, If only I'd read this first I could have looked :)
the Sheldonian is the subject of the clue, but I did say 'another' of his monuments!
Hmmm......St Pauls Cathedral?
IS THE RIGHT ANSWER!!!!
Luce will be my proxy and buy you a pint tomorrow, assuming you've finished painting in time to go out!!!!
Whoo hoo.....I won!!!
Thanks A.
