Flesh on bone

Did some more on the RA painting this morning. I am exploring a new technique with this one. Using acrylic more like oils. I have still a long way to go but I am pleased with how this one is shaping up. All I am using is titanium white and mars black. To give you an idea of scale, this canvas is 30 x 40 inches. You are probably best off clicking on the image to get the best view :-)

That’s coming together well, very striking :) What are you going to do with the dots in the background, I quite like those, they contrast well with the ‘realistic’ foreground and have a vaguely spiritual feel to them…but then again, maybe I’ve just had too much coffee ;) Anyway, it’s becoming increasingly interesting :)

You don't need me to tell you that this is a powerful image. Is your plan to keep it in black and white or add colour. I really liked your earlier idea of a balck and white image, with red 'rags' round the side.

Thank you ....we should call ourselves the Eynsham Arts and Tipple CLub ;-)

I am going to keep this in black and white, but haven't fully decided what to do with the edges just yet. I'm enjoying feeling my way around this one as its such a departure from flowers. Just using 2 colours means you can concentrate on the brush work and the feeling derived from that, rather than raiding the paint cupboard which is my usual modus operandi.
